Leaders and key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State have reaffirmed their unfettered loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde.

This was as they declared their readiness to align with his political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The resolution was reached on Monday during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Local Government Secretariat, Idi-Ayunre.

The meeting was convened at the instance of the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, alongside the PDP Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Nasir Hamzat.

In their resolutions at the end of the meeting, party leaders across the 10 wards in the council area unanimously pledged total allegiance to Governor Makinde, noting that their collective decision was driven by confidence in his leadership style and developmental strides in Oyo State.

They stressed that unity at the grassroots remains critical to sustaining the PDP’s dominance in the state.

Speaking at the gathering, Engr. Olatunji described the meeting as a strategic consolidation of party strength within Oluyole, emphasizing that loyalty and unity would shape the party’s future.

“This gathering is not just another routine meeting; it is a clear demonstration of our unity, our shared purpose, and our collective resolve to stand firmly behind His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde,” he said.

He added, “In Oluyole Local Government, we have taken a deliberate decision to remain loyal and committed to the leadership and direction of Governor Makinde, whose governance has continued to deliver tangible dividends to our people.”

Explaining the importance of cohesion within the party, the council chairman noted that grassroots unity remains the backbone of political success. “Our strength as a party lies in our unity at the grassroots.

“What we are witnessing today is a consolidation of that strength, a reaffirmation that Oluyole PDP is one, united, and focused,” he stated.

Olatunji further stressed that the declaration of support would be matched with concrete political action ahead of the next election cycle whenever the governor gives directives on the next line of action.

“We are not just declaring support in words; we are backing it up with action, mobilization, and sustained engagement across all wards to ensure that our party remains formidable ahead of 2027,” he said.

He also linked the stakeholders’ decision to the governor’s leadership style, noting, “Governor Makinde has provided visionary and purposeful leadership, and as leaders at the local level, it is our responsibility to align with that vision and ensure continuity of good governance.”

Reassuring party members of Oluyole’s commitment, he said, “Let me assure our leaders and stakeholders that Oluyole will not be found wanting.

“We will continue to follow, support, and defend the collective decisions of our party under the leadership of Governor Makinde.”

The Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Hon. Mojeed Mogbonjubola, though physically absent, participated in the meeting via a phone call.

In his remarks, he expressed full support for the position of the stakeholders, affirming that he aligns completely with their decision and remains committed to the collective interest of the party under Makinde’s leadership.

Also present at the meeting were prominent party figures, including former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Depo Oyedokun; former Commissioner, Engr. Ayuba Balogun; immediate past Council Chairman, Hon. Olaide Popoola (popularly known as Settle); and immediate past PDP Chairman in the local government, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola.

Others in attendance included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon. Olumide Akinlade; former Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Abore; Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Niyi Akorede; and the Leader of the House, Hon. Taofeek Azeez, alongside other party leaders across the 10 wards.

At the end of the meeting, stakeholders renewed their commitment to work in unity, strengthen party structures, and mobilise grassroots support in line with Governor Makinde’s political direction as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
