The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered the body of a male victim from a fatal road accident in Ibadan, while also rescuing nine persons from a separate fire incident in the state capital.

The incidents, which occurred on Saturday, highlight the rapid emergency response efforts of the state fire agency across multiple locations within Ibadan.

According to findings, the fatal accident took place in front of the Omo Ajorosun Club House along the busy Total Garden axis of the city.

An ASHOK Leyland truck bearing registration number FFF340XB (Ogun) was reported to have rammed into a motorcycle, crushing it and resulting in the death of a male rider.

Emergency responders from the Oyo State Fire Service swiftly arrived at the scene, where they recovered the victim’s body.

The remains were subsequently handed over to officers of the Yemetu Police Division for further investigation and necessary procedures.

In a related development, firefighters also responded to a fire outbreak at No. 18 Idi Oro Road (A), Sode area along Ajibode in Ibadan.

The inferno, which affected a four-bedroom private residential building, posed significant risk to occupants before emergency crews intervened.

Fire service personnel successfully rescued nine individuals from the burning building, preventing further casualties.

The victims were promptly evacuated and taken to Oyo Mesi Specialist Hospital in Ibadan for immediate medical attention.

Meanwhile, another fire incident was recorded in Iseyin, within the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.

The blaze reportedly destroyed three shops, leading to loss of goods and property worth substantial value.

Confirming the three separate incidents, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, disclosed that the agency responded promptly upon receiving distress calls.

He emphasized that firefighters were immediately deployed to the various scenes to mitigate damage and save lives.

“Our officers quickly swung into action, recovered a male victim and handed him over to a team of policemen from Yemetu Police Divisional Headquarters led by ASP Atiola Wasiu,” Akinwande stated.

The fire service boss reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions to prevent avoidable emergencies.
