The senatorial ambition of former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dada Awoleye, has continued to gather momentum as leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Ibadanland reaffirm their support through a series of consultative engagements.

At the Ibadan North West Local Government meeting on Wednesday, key party figures expressed strong confidence in Awoleye’s candidacy.

Among those in attendance were Dr. Remi Ayodele, member of the State Elders Advisory Council, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Oyo State PDP Deputy Chairman, and Alhaji Ramon, Executive Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government.

Dr. Ayodele, while addressing stakeholders, said, “Hon. Awoleye represents a blend of experience and accessibility. We have seen his work before, and we are convinced that he possesses the competence to serve effectively at the Senate.”

He added that the party must prioritize candidates with proven commitment to grassroots development.

In his remarks, the state vice chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke stressed the importance of unity within the party, noting that Awoleye’s ongoing consultations were a step in the right direction.

“What we are witnessing is a demonstration of respect for party leadership and structure.

This kind of engagement strengthens our internal democracy and positions us better for victory,” he said.

Alhaji Ramon also pledged grassroots mobilization, stating, “At the local government level, we understand the pulse of the people, and we are ready to work to ensure that credible candidates like Awoleye emerge and succeed.”

A similar show of support was recorded in Ibadan North East Local Government, where party leaders and stakeholders gathered to receive the aspirant.

Those present included Barrister Muyiwa Makinde, the Gbonnka Olubadan, Hon. Owolabi representing Ibadan North East Constituency II, Chief Mrs. Funmi Arulogun, and Hon. Gbenga Adewusi Arole.

Barrister Makinde described the consultation as timely and strategic, saying, “Leadership is about preparation and connection with the people. Awoleye has demonstrated both, and that gives many of us confidence in his aspiration.”

The Gbonnka Olubadan also commended the outreach, noting that “leaders who seek broader mandates must be willing to listen, and this engagement reflects that readiness.”

Chief Mrs. Arulogun, in her remarks, emphasized inclusiveness, stating, “This kind of consultation is what strengthens our party. It allows stakeholders to feel carried along, and that is critical as we approach another election cycle.”

Second term member of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon. Olusola Owolabi added, “We can attest to his contributions during his time in the House of Representatives.

Supporting him is a continuation of a journey of impactful representation.”
Also speaking, Hon. Gbenga Adewusi Arole urged party faithful to remain committed to the collective interest of the PDP.

“Our focus should be on presenting candidates who can win elections and deliver results. From what we have seen, Awoleye fits into that category,” he said.

The same wave of endorsement was echoed across Ibadan North West, where stakeholders reiterated their readiness to mobilize support at the grassroots level.

The PDP stakeholders believe the growing acceptance of Awoleye’s aspiration across key political blocs underscores a strengthening base ahead of the 2027 elections.

As the consultation drive intensifies and gather momentum, PDP stakeholders across the senatorial district have maintained that Awoleye’s sustained engagement with party leaders may play a decisive role in shaping the PDP’s internal alignments in the weeks leading to the primaries.
