The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across the state on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

In a statement released on Friday morning, to commemorate the 2026 Sallah celebration, Akinwande congratulated Muslims on the spiritual discipline, sacrifice, and devotion demonstrated throughout the holy month, describing it as a period of deep reflection and renewed faith.
He noted that the virtues of patience, self-restraint, and charity observed during Ramadan should continue to guide daily interactions, fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among residents of Oyo State.

While rejoicing with the Muslim community, the Fire Service boss also used the opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of fire safety, particularly during festive periods when the use of cooking appliances, electricity, and combustible materials often increases.

Hon. Akinwande urged residents to be vigilant and adopt precautionary measures to prevent fire outbreaks, stressing the need for proper handling of gas cylinders, electrical installations, and open flames in homes and public spaces.
He further advised the public to avoid unsafe practices such as overloading electrical sockets and leaving cooking unattended, noting that such negligence has been identified as a major cause of fire incidents during celebrations.

The Chairman assured that the Agency remains fully prepared and on high alert to respond swiftly to any emergency, adding that operational teams have been strategically positioned across the state to ensure prompt intervention where necessary.
He also encouraged residents to promptly report any fire outbreak or emergency situation to the appropriate authorities, emphasizing that early response can significantly reduce damage and save lives.
Reaffirming the commitment of the agency to safeguard lives and property, Akinwande highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen fire prevention awareness and improve emergency response capacity across communities in the state.
He concluded by wishing all Muslim faithful a joyful, peaceful, and incident-free Eid celebration, while praying for continued harmony, safety, and prosperity in Oyo State and beyond.
