Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of fire incidents in two different places in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo gathered that the first incident that occurred today at Banbay Specialist Hospital, Block 42, Akobo Estate, Ibadan, was a result of the control panel system at the generator house catching fire.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

He said that the firemen, led by ACFS Oyeniyi, promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.

“Upon arrival, it was the control panel system in the generator house that was on fire.

“Our officer quickly got to work by curtailing from spreading to the other parts of the building.

No casualty was recorded, the incident was a result of electrical sparks from the generator’s panel.

Properties worth millions of naira were saved by the firefighters.

Also, the Oyo State fire service agency responded to a distress call at Winners Road, Ashi, Ibadan.

The fire incident was a result of cooking gas being left unattended to ignited combustibles. andbset the building ablaze.

Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident and acknowledged that the fire personnel led by CFS Adekola promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.

“Upon arrival, it is an ancient residential building engulfed by fire. Our officer swiftly swung into action, and the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to other nearby buildings and properties in the department.

No causality was recorded as the fire affected the building and saved nearby buildings, and properties.

The resident applauded the executive Governor of Oyo State Engr ‘Seyi Makinde for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State fire service in response to emergencies.

Hon. Akinwande warna resident of Oyo State to desist from the habit of indiscriminate bush burning during this extremely dry season to avoid fire disasters.

He also emphasized the importance of installing and learning the correct usage of fire extinguishers in our communities in order to prevent fire incidents when they first start.
