PHOTOS: Tanker Carrying 33,000 Litres of PMS Falls on Ibadan Road, Residential Building Engulfs By Fire

Properties worth millions of naira destroyed as petroleum tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petroleum falls on Ibadan road, Idi-Ayunre.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Friday at Buso, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

It was learnt that a DAF trailer tanker with registration number LUY 294 XA (Ibadan) loaded with 33,000 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control, fell on an open road and content gushing out.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

Akinwande in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News stated that the firefighters led by ACFS Amoo promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.

“Upon arrival, it was a DAF trailer tanker with registration number LUY 294 XA (Ibadan) loaded with 33,000 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control, fell on an open road and content gushing out.

“Our officer quickly got to work by applying foam chemical compound solution to neutralize the spilled petrol content from catching fire within the vicinity that may likely have resulted in fire outbreaks.

Akinwande said no casualty was recorded, as the incident as a result of brake failure and properties worth millions of naira were saved by fire service.

However, vehicular movement has been restored back to the highway and normal everyday activities are going on.

Also, Oyo State fire service agency dosed flames on residential building of six rooms at Kosi Koro compound, Oja-Igbo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred on Saturday, 21at February, 2026. Fire incident was as a result of gas cooker unattended to, ignited to the nearby combustible and set the building on fire.

Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident and affirmed that officer led by CFS Ademola promptly deployed and mobilized to the scene of incident.

Akinwande said, “on getting to the scene, it was an ancient residential building of six rooms covered with flames and thick smoke.

“Our officer quickly swung into action and subdued and restricted the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings and properties.

No casualty was recorded as fire incident was as a result of gas cooker unattended to, ignited to the nearby combustible and set the building on fire.
