Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has called for peace, unity, and collective prayers as Muslims commence the holy month of Ramadan while Christians observe the Lenten season simultaneously.

In a statement issued by the Media Team of Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Sanusi described the rare convergence of the two sacred fasting periods as a divine signal and a confirmation of God’s plan to answer the prayers of the people. He emphasized that the period presents a unique opportunity for spiritual reflection, mutual understanding, and strengthened coexistence among adherents of both faiths.

Chief Sanusi urged Muslims and Christians to use the season to pray fervently for peace, stability, and progress in Oyo State, across Yorubaland, and throughout Nigeria. He stressed that unity of purpose, love for one another, and sincere devotion remain essential to national growth and harmony.

According to him, “When faith communities walk together in prayer and sacrifice, society moves closer to peace, justice, and shared prosperity.”

He further encouraged citizens to embody the core values of Ramadan and Lent self-discipline, compassion, forgiveness, and service to humanity, while supporting one another irrespective of religious differences.

The statement concluded with a call on leaders at all levels to promote tolerance and inclusive governance, noting that enduring peace can only be achieved through unity and collective responsibility.

Media Team,
Okanlomo Oodua
