The Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has inaugurated its newly elected State Executive Council and 33 Local Government Coordinators, in a landmark event that reinforced the organisation’s commitment to youth leadership, unity, and purposeful civic engagement across the state.

The inauguration ceremony, which also featured a Youth Leadership Lecture Series and Heroes Award presentation, was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The well-attended gathering drew youths, stakeholders, and dignitaries from across the state.
The event marked a significant milestone in NYC Oyo’s drive to nurture a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders committed to building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
Activities lined up for the occasion included youth-focused leadership sessions, strategic networking opportunities, and the recognition of individuals who have made notable contributions to youth development.
A major highlight of the event was the conferment of the title of Grand Patron on His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Bashir Olalekan Abioye Siyanbola IV, the Onigbeti of Igbeti Kingdom, is being recognized for his consistent support for youth empowerment and leadership advancement.
In his acceptance remarks, the monarch expressed profound appreciation to the NYC Oyo State Chapter for the honour and commended the organisation for its sustained efforts at mobilising youths towards positive civic participation and leadership excellence.
The National President of the Nigerian Youth Congress was represented at the event by the National Vice President, Comrade Ogunsola Ezekiel Gbenga, who urged youths to actively engage in leadership programmes and prepare themselves for future responsibilities.
“You must be present in every leadership space that prepares you for tomorrow,” he charged.
The formal inauguration of the newly elected executives was presided over by Prince (Hon.) Falana Adebowale Adebayo, Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, tasked the new leadership to prioritise inclusiveness, accountability, and youth-centred initiatives.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Barr. Beulah Adeoye delivered an insightful address on youth leadership and development, identifying discipline, vision, and selfless service as core pillars of effective leadership.
He was also honoured with an Award of Excellence for his contributions to youth advancement.
Other dignitaries at the event included Chief Otunba Niyi Adekola (Chairman, ONA Foundation), Amb. Yekeen Lukman Olanrewaju (Oyo State Commandant, Man O’ War), Chief Muda Dayo Ogunsola, and several other prominent personalities.
The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for sustained youth engagement, collaborative leadership, and strategic partnerships aimed at unlocking the full potential of young people in Oyo State.
