…lauds Gov Makinde over efforts at stabilizing party

The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency of Oyo State, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains resilient and focused despite recent defections, assuring party members and supporters that there is still hope for the party.
Speaking on the development while fielding question from journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Agboworin described defections as a familiar occurrence in Nigeria’s political space, stressing that they would not derail the PDP from its core mission of serving the people.

“Defections are part of our political history, but they do not define the strength or future of the PDP. We will not be distracted, and we will not be discouraged. There is hope for the PDP,” Agboworin stated.

The lawmaker, while speaking further, lauded the efforts of his Principal and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for what he described as firm, courageous and stabilizing leadership at a critical time for the party.
Agboworin noted that the governor’s leadership has shown that the PDP remains a party with strong internal structures and leaders who are willing to make sacrifices for its survival.

“Let me also use this medium to appreciate the efforts of my governor, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who has stood his ground when it mattered most and worked tirelessly to prevent the collapse of the party.
“His commitment, maturity and sense of responsibility have helped to hold the PDP together, not just in Oyo State but as a rallying point for the party nationwide.
“What we are seeing in Oyo State under Governor Makinde is a proof that with sincerity, unity and focus, the party can overcome its challenges,” he stated.
He, however, called on party leaders and members across the country to emulate the governor’s example by putting the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions.
