The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, and Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, on Saturday led other council chairmen across the state to grace the 22nd edition of the Miss Oyo beauty pageant, held at the Jogor Centre, Ibadan.

The colourful event, which attracted dignitaries from government, the entertainment industry, traditional institutions, and civil society organisations, celebrated beauty, intelligence, culture, and youth empowerment in Oyo State.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Oyedele commended the organisers of Miss Oyo for sustaining the pageant over the years, describing it as a platform that promotes cultural heritage, confidence, and leadership among young women in the state.

He reaffirmed the commitment of local government administrations to initiatives that empower youths and project Oyo State positively, noting that programmes like Miss Oyo play a significant role in grooming ambassadors for the state.

Other council chairmen present at the event also applauded the organisers for maintaining high standards and providing opportunities for young women to showcase their talents beyond physical beauty.

The 22nd edition of Miss Oyo featured cultural displays, talent exhibitions, and a keenly contested competition among contestants drawn from different local government areas of the state, further reinforcing the pageant’s reputation as one of the longest-running and most respected beauty contests in the region.
