The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji has flagged off the construction of 16 meters Oba Ado–Ayegun culvert and two other similar projects in different communities.

The project according to the council boss aimed at restoring access to grassroots communities that have long struggled with poor road connectivity to their residence and business areas.

The flag off held on Friday at Oba Ado–Ayegun community in ward 7 area of the Council.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Olatunji said the Oba Ado–Ayegun culvert, when completed, would serve as an alternative route to the busy Ayegun–Olomi road, easing movement for residents and traders and improving the overall flow of traffic in the area.

“When completed, it will serve as an alternative road to Ayegun–Olomi road,” Olatunji said. He also stressed that the project was conceived to make life easy for residents in the area.

In a brief address, the council boss made it clear that the intervention had nothing to do with partisan politics stressing that infrastructural development is for everyone.

“We are not doing this for any political reason. This is about good governance beyond party lines. The people who will benefit from this project are not only PDP or APC members. It is for everyone.

“We will continue to bring meaningful development to the grassroots in Oluyole and its environment in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde, which has seen infrastructural transformation of the state into another industrial hub in Nigeria,” Olatunji added.

He later attributed his performance in office to the support and opportunity given to him by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

“Without the opportunity provided by the Governor, people might never have known what I am capable of doing,” he noted.

Olatunji also disclosed that aside from the Oba Ado–Ayegun culvert, other ongoing projects across the local government include culvert construction at Sha Mashad at Sanyo, and the Farai axis of Oluyole Local Government.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon. Olumide Akinlade, described the project as the fulfillment of a long-standing demand by the host community.

“We have been clamoring for this for a long time, and we thank God that it has finally become a reality under Engr. Akeem Olatunji,” Akinlade said.

He revealed that he had previously approached some former local government chairmen on the same project without success.

“They did not respond. However, I assured the people that someday, another chairman would listen to their request. Today, it has finally come to pass under Engr. Akeem Olatunji,” he added.

Several community leaders who spoke at the project flag off, including Mr. Kola Kilani, Mr. Akintola Akeem, and Alfa Olorunjuedalo Ojo, commended the council chairman for what they described as a people-centered project, noting that it would ease transportation challenges and boost economic activities in the affected areas.

Dignitaries at the flag-off included Alhaji Adegbola Mukaila, immediate past PDP chairman in Oluyole; the Vice Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Niyi Akorede; Mogaji Akeem Ayelagbe; Alhaji Ogunrin, a PDP stalwart; members of the PDP local government executive led by Alhaji Nasiru Hamzat; ward chairmen, party leaders, and other community stakeholders.

Residents who came out to witness the flag off, expressed optimism that the project, when completed, would finally reconnect their communities, reduce travel time, and improve access for both pedestrians and motorists. They commended Olatunji for his humane approach to governance and prayed for higher opportunity in his future political endeavor.
