..as a mobile phone set a Residential Building ablaze

A devastating fire incident has engulfed the residential building in Lanlate, Ibarapa axis of Oyo State.
Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday at Araromi Quarters, Lanlate, Ibarapa zone.

Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as it was a room in a three (3) bedrooms flat burning.



Special adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande, in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News stated that the fire personnel led by CFS Adegoke (Mrs) promptly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident.

“No casualty was recorded, the fire incident was a result of a mobile phone plugged in unattended by the owner exploding and setting the room ablaze.
“Our officers swiftly swung into action and curtailed and restricted the fire from spreading to other rooms of the building”. He said.
Residents commended the state government under the leadership of His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the State Fire Service in Ibarapa zone, in responding to emergencies as needed.
Akinwande further urged the public to always be conscious of fire, switch off, and unplug all electrical appliances while not in use.
He admonished them to understand the correct use of gas cylinders, avoid indiscriminate refuse and bush burning during the dry season. He implored every household and workplace to install fire extinguishers in their places.
