A prominent grassroots politician and former Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido local government areas of Oyo State, Alhaji Nureni Adeoye, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to part ways with the party and join the campaign team of Hon. Remi Oseni in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with the newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday, Adeoye described his defection as a “well-considered move” driven by a desire to align with a leadership vision that prioritizes development, youth empowerment, and transparent governance.

According to him, politics should be about service and not personal gain, adding that Hon. Remi Oseni’s ideology and commitment to people-oriented governance reflect the kind of politics he believes in.

“I have spent years working within the PDP structure, but over time with my personal purse for the course, I realized that the system no longer represents the values and vision we started with. Hon. Remi Oseni stands out as a leader who genuinely cares about his people and works tirelessly to uplift communities. That’s the kind of leadership I want to be part of,” Adeoye stated.
Going down memory lane, Alhaji Nureni explained the rumor renting air around that he collected money and worked for the victory of Hon. Remi Oseni during the 2023 general elections, where he vividly disclaimed the statement. He explained how he volunteered the payment of the PDP Party Secretariat in Ido, rehabilitation of Gbekuba’s Primary Healthcare with Seven Hundred and Fifty thousand naira (#750,000).

Nureni however, stressed further how he supports the incumbent council Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, and many other appointees in his administration.
“I left PDP because I was not recognized nor given any juicy positions in governance, my followers in Ido are now enjoying the quality representation in Ido under the leadership of Hon. Remi Oseni.

He emphasized that his decision was not borne out of bitterness or conflict but a conviction to contribute meaningfully to a team that embodies integrity and progress.
Adeoye further called on his supporters and like-minded politicians across Oyo State to rally behind Hon. Remi Oseni’s campaign, describing it as a movement committed to transforming the political landscape through inclusivity and accountability.
He also lamented on the Ward Congress that led to the removal of his ally’s name by some individuals, not giving recognition to his impact as a leader in Ido Ward 07 was part of his final decision to voluntarily resign from the party.
“Our people deserve better. We need leaders who are accessible, trustworthy, and visionary. That’s why I am proud to identify with Hon. Oseni and his mission,” he added.
Alhaji Nureni Adeoye assured that his new political alignment would focus on grassroots mobilization, community development, and creating opportunities for young people to actively participate in governance.
