Properties Worth Millions of Naira were destroyed as Fire ravaged duplex residential buildings in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.


Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred at Hazmat Street, Kuola off Akala Expressway, Ibadan
Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.

In a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News, Akinwande stated that no casualties were recorded, noting that the fire incident was caused by lighted mosquito coils that were left unattended, igniting nearby combustibles and setting the building ablaze.



According to him; “The fire incident was reported at exactly 18:50hrs on Friday 24th October,2025 through a telephone call, and Mr Abegunde about a house on fire at the above address.
“Fire personnel led by CFS Adedeji ((Mrs) promptly mobilized and responded to the scene of the incident. Upon arrival, it was the upper floor of a duplex residential building with an adjoining two-bathroom flat engulfed by fire.

“Our officers quickly swung into action, subdued and restricted the fire from spreading to the ground floor and nearby buildings.
“No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was a result of lighted mosquito coils unattended to ignite nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze.
However, the fire incident was jointly extinguished with a crew of firemen from the Federal Fire Service and the Sweetco Fire Service. The presence of a team of policemen from Kuola Division was applauded for providing security cover during the firefighting operation
Resident and Landlord Association applauded the Oyo State fire service for their prompt response to the incidents thereby applauded the executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde for providing state-of-the-art equipment to the firefighters in combating emergency services.
On finality, Akinwande urged the public to be conscious of fire and emphasized the importance of installing fire-fighting extinguishers in every household in order to curb fire incidents when just started.
