Oyo State Sets Record Breaking Employment Figures Under Makinde (Part 1) – GSM Advocates

In a remarkable display of commitment to job creation and economic development, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has earned accolades as the best employer under the state government’s payroll. Under his leadership, the state has witnessed a massive recruitment drive, providing employment opportunities for thousands of citizens.

Under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, Oyo State has achieved an unprecedented employment drive, creating thousands of job opportunities across various sectors. This initiative not only adds value to the lives of young persons but also demonstrates the governor’s commitment to economic development and job creation, cementing his reputation as a champion of employment and economic growth.

Over the past few years, the state government has embarked on a massive recruitment exercise, employing thousands of citizens in various capacities. This effort has not only reduced the unemployment rate in the state but also contributed to a decrease in crime rates.

Some of the notable recruitment exercises carried out under Governor Makinde’s administration include the employment of 5,000 TESCOM teachers in 2021, followed by the recruitment of over 1,500 Amotekun personnel in the same year. The Amotekun Corps has since seen several batches of recruits, with the latest being Batch D in 2024.

In addition, the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) recruited 500 new officers in 2024, while 480 Forest Rangers were also employed. The state government also employed 7,500 secondary school teachers and 3,000 non-teaching staff in 2024, and 7,000 primary school teachers and 100 caregivers through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

In a significant development, the Oyo State Civil Service Commission also conducted a recruitment exercise, employing 791 officers of various cadres in October 2024. This brings the total number of jobs created under Governor Makinde’s administration to several thousands.

The massive recruitment exercises have had a significant impact on the state, reducing unemployment and crime rates. Many families have benefited from the employment opportunities, and the state’s economy has received a boost.

The people of Oyo State have expressed their gratitude to Governor Makinde for his commitment to job creation and economic development. “We are grateful to Governor Makinde for providing employment opportunities for thousands of our youths,” said a beneficiary. “This is a clear demonstration of his dedication to the welfare and development of the state.”
