The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to public health and community well-being as he flagged off the Mobile Clinic Truck Programme at the council secretariat on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The groundbreaking initiative, which kicked off amid excitement and applause, is designed to bring free medical screening and treatment closer to residents.

The services cover cervical cancer, prostate cancer, oral cancer, and other non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

The programme initiator, Prof. Imran O. Morhason-Bello from the College of Medicine, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, explained that the project aims to complement the health agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, which prioritizes accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.

Speaking during the event, Prof. Imran.O Morhason-Bello expressed gratitude to Hon. Olufade and his team for providing a supportive platform to launch the life-changing project.

He noted that the mobile clinic, fully equipped with modern medical facilities, would enable hundreds of people to receive screening, consultation, and treatment free of charge.

“Health is wealth, and without sound health, it is impossible to achieve one’s goals.

This programme is designed to take healthcare to the people’s doorstep.

We are glad to start this journey from Ibadan North, the local government that houses the Governor and the State Secretariat,” he said.

Prof. Imran O. Morhason-Bello further disclosed that the pilot phase of the initiative will cover four local governments, Ibadan North, Ibadan North East, Iseyin, and Kajola.

In her health talk, Mrs. Oladiran, Deputy Director of Nursing at UCH, cautioned residents against the excessive consumption of sugary foods, alcohol, and processed diets.

She encouraged them to embrace natural and healthy foods, emphasizing that “health is wealth.”

In his goodwill message, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade commended the medical team for choosing Ibadan North as the flag-off point and reaffirmed his administration’s continuous support for initiatives that improve citizens’ health.

“Ibadan North has always been the pacesetter, and we are proud to host this impactful programme.

I appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership in the health sector, which continues to inspire partners and professionals to contribute their quota to humanity,” Olufade stated.

He also lauded the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Hon. Babatunde Samson Ajala, for his diligence and dedication to improving healthcare delivery within the local government.

Hon. Olufade urged residents to fully cooperate with the medical team and take advantage of the free services provided.

Prominent members of the medical team included Dr. Bashir Olanrewaju (Retired Permanent Secretary, Oyo State), Dr. Dele Busari, Dr. Gbolahan Abass, Chief Adegbite, and Mrs. Oladiran (Deputy Director of Nursing, UCH) and a host of others.

Dr. Aboderin Aminat, the Medical Officer of Health, Ibadan North, was also present to monitor the exercise.

Those who joined the chairman at the flag-off ceremony included Hon. Taiwo Adebola (Leader of the House), Mrs. Ejiade (Director of Administration and General Services), Alhaja Kudirat Nojimudeen (Director of Education and Social Services), councillors, supervisory councillors, special assistants, and several heads of departments.

The mobile clinic, which has begun operations, has already attended to hundreds of beneficiaries, reaffirming Ibadan North Local Government’s position as a front-runner in people-oriented governance and sustainable public health delivery.
