The kitchen of a private residential building of six (6) rooms has been ravaged by fire in the Oyo township axis of Oyo State.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday, September 21, 2025, behind Starlight Baptist Church, Mobolaje, Area, Oyo.

No casualty was recorded, as the fire incident was a result of non- nonchalant attitude by which a woman cooking with a coal pot unattended ignited combustible materials which set the kitchen ablaze.

Special adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident to our correspondence.

Akinwande said, it was the kitchen of a private residential building of six (6) rooms on fire due to a nonchalant attitude by a woman.

According to him; “The fire incident was reported at exactly 13:03 hrs on Sunday 21st September 2025, through a telephone call and Mr Edward about a house on fire at the above address.

“The Agency Officers led by PFS 11 Makinde promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. Upon arrival, it was the kitchen of a private residential building of six (6) rooms on fire and we quickly swung into action and the fire was subdued and restricted from spreading to other parts of the building.

“The fire incident was a result of non- nonchalant attitude by which a woman cooking with a coal pot unattended and ignited a combustible material which set the kitchen ablaze.

“No casualty was recorded, the Agency Officers were able to save properties worth millions of naira.

However, Akinwande urged the public to be conscious of fire and emphasized the importance of having extinguishers in their respective buildings in order to prevent fire incidents at the incipient stage.
