Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of an inferno that ravaged residential buildings in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred at No. 10, Olapade Street, Ade-Royal Area, Oke Ìtùnú, Mokola, Ibadan.
It was learned that the upper floor of a residential building was engulfed in fire.

No casualties were recorded as properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.



Special adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande affirmed that the upper floor of a storey residential building was engulfed by fire.

He said, “The fire emergency was received through telephoning at exactly 18:50hrs on Wednesday 17th September,2025 and Mr Yinusa was dispatched to a house on fire at the above address.
“Immediately the address was taken, the fire personnel led by CFS Adekola promptly mobilized and responded to the distressed call. On getting to the scene of the incident, it was the upper floor of a storey residential building engulfed by fire.
“Our officers swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from gaining momentum. The fire was completely extinguished and a fire prevention lecture was delivered to the public.
No casualty was recorded only three (3) rooms were affected by fire and other rooms on the upper floor including the ground floor were protected by the fire service.
However, the operation was jointly carried out with the Federal Fire Service Ibadan Command, and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the fire services.
Hon.Moroof Akinwande further urged the public to be conscious of fire and emphasized the importance of having extinguishers in their respective buildings to prevent fire incidents when they start.
