
A devastating fire outbreak ripped through the station of Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo township, sending shockwaves through the academic community.

Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred this afternoon at Ajayi Crowther University along Oyo /Ogbomosho Old Express Way Oyo
It was learnt that the radio station was engulfed by fire and smoke, as a result of an electrical surge from the conditioning that invariably caused fire.


Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident in our correspondence.



Akinwande further reiterated that no casualty was recorded while the firefighter was able to save properties worth millions of naira.
He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 11:55 hr on Monday, 1st September 2025, through a telephone call, and Mr Abraham.

The Agency’s Officers, led by PFS 11 Makinde, promptly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident. On getting there, we met the Radio station Studio engulfed by fire and smoke.

However, the fireman swiftly swung into action and the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading beyond where we met it. The fire was a result of an electrical surge from the air conditioning and a cut fire.
Stating that no casualty was recorded, while the Agency was able to save properties worth millions of naira.
Hon. Akinwande urged the public to be conscious of fire and emphasized the importance of having extinguishers in their respective buildings and the correct use of the equipment to prevent fire incidents at the incipient stage.
