The Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Media, ICT and Public Affairs, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, has extended his heartfelt sympathy to popular gospel artist and media entrepreneur, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, and the entire Fresh FM family following the fire incident that affected parts of the radio station’s premises in Ibadan.

The fire, which broke out late Friday night, caused significant damage to sections of the Fresh FM, music house building located along Challenge-Toll Gate Road.

Though no lives were lost, equipment and property worth millions of naira were destroyed.

In a statement issued in Ibadan, Hon. Akintayo, popularly known as “Ilumoka Presenter,” expressed deep concern over the incident and described it as a painful setback not only to Fresh FM but to the media landscape in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

“This is a very sad development,” Hon. Akintayo stated.

“Fresh FM, under the leadership of Dr. Yinka Ayefele, has been a beacon of excellence in broadcasting, delivering top-notch information, entertainment, and public enlightenment to listeners across the country. The fire outbreak is indeed unfortunate. I and the state assembly stand in solidarity with the management and staff during this difficult time.”

The lawmaker who is also an experienced media practitioner urged the staff and management of Fresh FM not to be discouraged by the incident.

He also called on relevant authorities, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to support the rebuilding efforts of the station.
