The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, has expressed heartfelt sympathy to renowned broadcaster and music icon, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following the devastating fire incident that gutted parts of Fresh FM Ibadan, one of the state’s leading radio stations.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, caused significant damage to broadcasting equipment and sections of the studio complex, although no casualties were reported.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, Hon. Akinwande described the fire as “deeply unfortunate” and praised the prompt response of emergency teams, including men of the Oyo State Fire Service, whose swift intervention helped prevent further destruction.

“I want to extend my deepest sympathy to Dr. Yinka Ayefele, his staff, and all loyal listeners of Fresh FM. This station is not just a media house; it is a beacon of information, culture, and community service in Oyo State,” Akinwande said.

He further assured the public of ongoing investigations to determine the exact cause of the inferno. He reaffirmed the fire service’s commitment to strengthening safety awareness and rapid response mechanisms across the state.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ayefele, while addressing the press outside the charred premises, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans, government officials, and well-wishers. He vowed that the setback would not deter the station’s operations and promised a swift return to the airwaves.

Fresh FM, established in 2015, has become a household name in the South-West region for its engaging programs, entertainment content, and social impact.
Authorities are urging business owners, institutions, and every household to adhere strictly to fire safety protocols at all times to avoid such occurrences.
