The Supervisory Councilors of Oyo East Local Government have extended their warm congratulations to Senator Monsurat Sunmonu on her recent appointment as a member of the 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Committee.
In a joint statement issued on Thursday evening, Heritage Echo correspondence, the Supervisory councilors praised the distinguished Senator’s appointment as a reflection of her unwavering dedication to democratic development and her sustained contributions to the growth of the PDP both in Oyo State and at the national level.
Describing the appointment as timely and well-deserved, the councilors commended the PDP leadership for recognizing Senator Sunmonu’s outstanding record of service, integrity, and leadership.
“Senator Monsurat Sunmonu is a beacon of purposeful leadership and a symbol of inclusiveness in governance. Her wealth of experience, both as a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Senator representing Oyo Central, makes her an invaluable asset to the National Convention Committee,” the statement read.
The Supervisory councilors expressed confidence that her involvement in the 2025 convention planning process will further strengthen internal democracy within the PDP and ensure a transparent, credible, and unifying outcome.
They also called on party stakeholders and members across all levels to support the committee’s work and rally behind Senator Sunmonu and other appointees in the collective mission to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senator Monsurat Sunmonu remains one of the most respected political figures in Oyo State, with a reputation for bridge-building, strategic leadership, and championing inclusive development.
