At the just-concluded Oluyole Youth Summit, a prominent traditional leader, Baale of Oleyo, Chief Kabiru Olajide, has commended the efforts of Engr. Akeem Olatunji, Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, for their unwavering support towards youth empowerment and grassroots development.

Addressing a gathering of youths, stakeholders, and community leaders, Chief Olajide described the summit as a timely and strategic intervention aimed at harnessing the untapped potential of young people across Oluyole and beyond.

He applauded the vision behind the initiative and highlighted the positive impact of inclusive governance at both the local and state levels.

“We are witnessing a new era in Oluyole where the voices of young people are not only being heard but also actively shaping the future of our community,” Chief Olajide stated.
“I commend Engr. Akeem Olatunji for his proactive leadership and Governor Seyi Makinde for consistently prioritizing youth development across Oyo State.”

The summit, which brought together hundreds of young participants from across the local government area, focused on issues such as entrepreneurship, education, digital innovation, and civic participation. Key sessions featured motivational talks, skill acquisition workshops, and policy dialogues to equip attendees with practical tools for socio-economic advancement.

Chief Olajide particularly praised the collaborative efforts that led to the successful hosting of the event, noting that Olatunji’s leadership has been instrumental in fostering community unity and sustainable development.

“Akeem Olatunji has proven to be a bridge between traditional institutions and modern governance,” he added. “His recognition by the Oluyole Traditional Council as Asiwaju of the local government reflects his service-oriented leadership.”
Governor Seyi Makinde, through a goodwill message delivered by a representative at the summit, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in youth capacity-building programs. He emphasized that empowering the next generation remains central to the state’s long-term development strategy.
“Our administration is determined to provide more opportunities for young people to thrive. We see them not just as beneficiaries but as partners in building a prosperous Oyo State,” the governor said.

The Oluyole Youth Summit is expected to become an annual platform for engaging young leaders, nurturing innovation, and strengthening the link between policy and grassroots realities.
Community members, civil society groups, and private sector representatives present at the summit called for stronger collaborations between the government and the youth to address unemployment and improve access to education, healthcare, and digital resources.
