In a vibrant display of cultural recognition, the Akure Kingdom in Ondo State has conferred prestigious chieftaincy titles upon His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and his wife, Her Excellency, Engr. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, the First Lady of Oyo State. The illustrious titles of Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom were bestowed upon the couple by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ogunlade Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, in a grand ceremony that underscored the deep ties between the Yoruba tribe and their shared commitment to progress and unity.

The Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, joined a chorus of well-wishers in extending heartfelt congratulations to the Makindes for the remarkable honor. In a statement issued through his media office, Hon. Kamorudeen described the conferment as a testament to the couple’s exemplary leadership, dedication to public service, and unwavering commitment to fostering unity across Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape.

“On behalf of the good people of Lagelu Local Government, I extend my warmest congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and Her Excellency , Engr. Tamunominini—The Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom,” Hon. Kamorudeen said. “This prestigious recognition by the Akure Kingdom reflects their outstanding contributions to governance, community development, and the promotion of Yoruba values of integrity, excellence, and unity. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the honor they have brought to Oyo State.”

The chieftaincy titles symbolize the Makindes’ embodiment of the Omoluabi ethos—a Yoruba philosophy that emphasizes character, dignity, and service to humanity. The conferment ceremony, held in the historic city of Akure, was a colorful celebration attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, and dignitaries from across Nigeria, including representatives from Oyo State who journeyed to honor their governor and first lady.

Hon. Kamorudeen, in his statement, also called on the people of Lagelu and Oyo State to continue supporting the Makinde administration’s transformative agenda. “The recognition of our governor and first lady by the Akure Kingdom is a moment of pride for all of us in Oyo State. Let us rally behind their vision for a prosperous and united state,” he urged.
