A devastating fire outbreak occurred at the Divine Touch Baptist Church in Oyo, Oyo State.
Heritage Echo gathered that the incident occurred Monday at Divine Touch Baptist Church, Sooro Hill, Saabo, Oyo township.
The incident has left the church community in shock with many members expressing sadness over losing their place of worship.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande confirmed the incident to our correspondence.
He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 15:25 hours on Monday, 14th July 2025, through GSM and CFM Ogundijo to the church on fire at the above address.
The Agency’s Officers, led by CFS Tijani Bamidele, promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. On getting to the scene of the incident, it was a solar control panel installed at the church premises that caught fire.
The fireman swiftly swung into action and the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to the church building.
However, the root cause of the fire was the overheating of the solar panel battery, which led to its explosion and ignited the other control panel.
No casualty was recorded, the fire affected only the control panel, and Officers of the Agency were able to save properties worth millions of naira within the church premises.
