The Ajia-Balogun of Ibadanland, Oloye Adenrele Lekan-Salami, has joined well wishers across the globe to celebrate the entry of the Olubadan of Ibadanland to the club of the nonagerians.
In a personally signed tribute, titled “A Royal Beacon at 90”, Adenrele eulogized Olubadan Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I) as a man who has repeatedly proven to be a true father to him and Ibadan children globally.
In his words “Today, we raise our voices in gratitude and celebration as we honour a living legend, a custodian of culture, and a father to millions, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“At 90 graceful years on Earth and one full year on the revered throne of his ancestors, Kabiyesi stands tall, not just in age, but in wisdom, dignity, and unshakable commitment to the peace and prosperity of Ibadanland”.
“From your days as a soldier and statesman, to your emergence as the paramount ruler of one of Africa’s most historically rich cities, you have led with calm authority, humility, and unifying strength. Your ascension to the throne came at a time when Ibadan yearned for renewed direction. And like the true monarch that you are, you stepped in with gentleness, yet clarity guiding your chiefs, embracing the youth, uplifting the aged, and reinforcing Ibadan’s place in the annals of Yoruba royalty and tradition”.
“As you celebrate this dual milestone, the 90th chapter of your life and the 1st anniversary of your reign, we do not only mark time, we mark testimony. Testimony of a life well-lived, a journey well-travelled, and a throne well-worn with honor”.
“Thank you, sir, for approving my elevation to the esteemed title of Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland. It stays a historical part of my life’s growth, and I won’t ever take it for granted”. He concluded on a note of appreciation.
