Ido Local Government has launched an exciting partnership with the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, a dedicated non-governmental organization, to promote a governance model that centers on the needs of the people through active citizen engagement.

The partnership, aptly themed “Building People Centered Local Government Through Active Citizen Engagement,” aims to bridge the gap between local government and its constituents.

During the event, the team leader, Barrister Nurah Jimoh Sanni, spoke passionately about the initiative. It consists of two key components: training local government officials across six local governments in the zone and hosting a seminar at Ido Local Government.

The seminar was graced by Dr. Mrs. Riskat Ayodele Busari, the Head of Local Government Administration, who served as the resource person for the day.

The event saw the attendance of notable figures such as Hon. AbdulAfeez Yahaya, Chief of Staff, who represented the Chairman Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, Chief Musbau Adegoke, CDC Chairman, along with enthusiastic youths, market men and women, and management staff of Ido LG.

According to the mission statement of the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, their core goal is to champion gender rights and uplift marginalized populations in Nigeria.

They tackle social and economic injustices while ensuring accountability and advancing sustainable development goals. Their vision is to become a leading, data-driven organization that empowers young people and communities to spearhead sustainable development, promote inclusive governance, and uphold civic liberties.

This partnership shines a light on the responsibilities of the government towards its citizens, such as providing basic amenities, ensuring public safety, promoting economic development, and protecting the rights of its citizens. In return, citizens are encouraged to fulfill their duties by actively participating in decision-making processes, holding elected officials accountable, contributing to community development initiatives, and meeting their tax obligations.

The Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative has been at the forefront of promoting civic engagement, peaceful political participation, and youth entrepreneurship and empowerment.

By collaborating, Ido Local Government and the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative aspire to create a more people-centered and responsive local government. This endeavor aims to foster a culture of mutual understanding and accountability between the government and the citizens it serves, paving the way for a brighter future together.
