Properties worth millions of Naira have been destroyed in a fire incident that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.


A six-room residential building was completely gutted by the Inferno.
The Incident occurred on Monday, S4/593B at Olubi Primary School, Wesley Elekuro, Ibadan.

Heritage Echo correspondence described the scene as chaotic, with people rushing to salvage what they could from the burning building.



The Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the incident. Stressing that no casualty was recorded, but the fire severely affected the building, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

According to him, “The distressed call was reported at exactly 10:22hrs on Monday, 16th June,2025 through the Security Trust Fund Toll free to the house on fire at the above address.

The Agency’s personnel, led by ACFS Adekola (Mrs), promptly deployed to the place of the incident.
“On arrival, it was a private residential building of six(6) rooms engulfed by fire. We swiftly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the other nearby buildings and properties.
No casualty was recorded, but the fire severely affected the building, and the fire service was able to save all nearby buildings and properties.
The fire was a result of an unattended domestic cooking gas cylinder, which exploded and set the building ablaze.
Hon. Akinwande further advised the public to guide against the nonchalant attitudes while cooking, particularly when cooking with domestic gas and electric cookers, to avoid an unwanted fire disaster.

Residents applauded the executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, for providing necessary equipment to the State Fire Service as the firefighters do their best to save all nearby buildings and properties.
