Oyo Federal Constituency Stakeholders Urge Governor Makinde to Include Representative in TESCOM Board

A group of stakeholders from Oyo Federal Constituency has called on Governor Seyi Makinde to consider including a representative from their zone in the newly appointed State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) board.

This request follows the governor’s recent appointment of a new TESCOM board, which did not include a representative from Oyo Zone.

The stakeholders expressed disappointment that Mr. Jimoh Akeem Olalekan, a member from Oyo Zone who had served diligently and was reappointed, was replaced by someone from the Eruwa/Ibarapa zone. They described this move as a “political aberration” and a “calculated attempt to kill the PDP in Oyo Federal Constituency.”

The group praised Mr. Olalekan’s performance during his first term, highlighting his dedication and contributions to promoting the governor’s administration and the party in Oyo Federal Constituency. They argued that Oyo Zone’s exclusion from the TESCOM board, following similar exclusions from the Civil Service Commission and Local Government Service Commission, is unfair and unjust.

The stakeholders urged Governor Makinde to reconsider the appointment and include a representative from Oyo Zone in the TESCOM board, emphasizing that this is not just about an individual but about the entire Oyo Zone being given fair representation.

The statement read in parts;

GSM HAS FINALLY EDGED OYO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY OUT OF PDP

In what appears to be a final blow to the fate of PDP in Oyo Federal Constituency, Governor Seyi Makinde has again, taken the slot of Oyo Zone in the Tescom Board to Eruwa/Ibarapa Zone by substituting Mr Jimoh Akeem Olalekan (the originally appointed member from Oyo Zone who performed excellently during his first term which necessitated his reappointment) with one Gbadegesin Isiaq from Eruwa/Ibarapa Federal Constituency.

This is a complete political aberration and a calculated attempt to completely kill the PDP in the Oyo Federal Constituency.

In a nutshell, Oyo Zone has again lost its rightful position in Tescom composition, just as it lost out in the present composition in the Civil Service Commission and the Local Government Service Commission.

Recall that on Wednesday, 4th June, 2025, the original list that contained the name of Mr Jimoh Akeem Olalekan, number (7) on the list from Oyo Zone, as approved by His Excellency himself and signed by his Chief-of-Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, was released to the public. As the jubilation was going on for days, another purported publication came on board, which was initially discarded as a mere distraction, but sadly, it replaced Mr Jimoh Akeem Olalekan. Could a focused government that’s preaching fairness, equity, justice, unity, peace, and internal cohesion in the party be contradicting itself?

But let His Excellency and the party know that Oyo Zone has an entity that will not let this injustice go because it is not about an individual or personality but a slap on the face of all Oyo people.

Mr Jimoh Akeem Olalekan is an industrious and illustrious Son of Oyo land who made Oyo Zone very proud during his first tenure as a member of the Tescom Board. He was very diligent, focused, and amplified the government of Governor Seyi Makinde and the Party to enviable heights.
