As anticipation builds for the highly awaited Oyo Youth Summit 2025, thousands of vibrant young people across the state braved the rain on Tuesday, April 29th, to participate in the Awareness Walk/Sensitization Campaign Against Drug Abuse held simultaneously across the five major zones of the state — Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa, and Oke-Ogun.

The turnout was a powerful statement of unity, purpose, and readiness for what promises to be a transformative gathering.

The Summit, themed “Unlocking Youth Potential: Addressing Needs, Fulfilling Dreams,” will officially hold on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, in Ibadan at the international Conference Center University of Ibadan. It is organized by the Oyo State Ministry for Youth and Sports, under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, and in collaboration with the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development and other key youth stakeholders.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Chairman of Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Falana Adebowale Adebayo, emphasized the significance of youth participation, stating, “This is not just another summit. It is an opportunity for young people to find their voice, connect with the right network, gain actionable knowledge, and align with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde’s youth-centric administration.

In the same vein, the Oyo State PDP Youth Leader and Acting Publicity Secretary, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, reiterated the commitment of youth leadership in unison, calling on young people from every corner of the state to take advantage of this once-in-a-year platform. “The future belongs to the prepared,” he said. “This summit is a gateway to mentorship, empowerment, and inspiration.”

The event will feature a powerful keynote address by Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Onaolapo, Managing Director of BOVAS, as well as a panel session, and conclude with a special dinner and award night. His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, will serve as the Chief Host, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to investing in youth development and leadership.

As the clock ticks toward this landmark event, the message is clear: Oyo youths must seize this opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired. The 2025 Oyo Youth Summit is not just a gathering—it is a movement.
