….welcomes New Alaafin

The former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, today met the Alago-Oja of Ago-Oja, His Royal Highness, Oba Ganiyu Ajiboye Busari, in Oyo township.

In a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo Correspondence, the former President paid a courtesy visit to the monarch on his way back from Shina Farms, along Oyo-Iseyin road.

Speaking during the meeting, Obasanjo applauded Alago-Oja’s leadership in resolving a land dispute, which could have led to civil war, escalation crisis, and community unrest, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in driving growth and development, toward peaceful co-existence.

However, the meeting aimed to strengthen ties between the former president and monarch, highlighting the need for collective action in addressing community challenges.

In his remarks, His Royal Highness, Oba Ganiyu Ajiboye Busari, the Alago-Oja of Ago-Oja, lauded the former President for taking time to visit him at his palace on his resolution to land disputes, which has been invaluable in helping him navigate complex issues. Aremu’s visit remains a surprise to me, he’s indeed a man of peace.

He urged for strengthened ties between the former president and him, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in driving growth and development.

Equally, Obasanjo used the medium to pray for the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, as the monarch completed his traditional rites today with a Sango crown, a symbol of rich culture, and traditions, and set for the coronation on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Obasanjo’s commitment to promoting peace and development is a testament to his enduring legacy as a statesman and leader.
