The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/ South East federal constituency of Oyo State, Rep. Abass Adigun, who is popularly known as Agboworin, has has taken a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude to the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support at all times.
Agboworin, who expressed this in a statement signed by his Media Group on Tuesday, and made available to journalists in Ibadan, noted that he would continue to be grateful to the Governor as a result of his tremendous efforts on his political journey.
He acknowledged the fact that Governor Makinde’s backing has been instrumental in his political success, stating that his unending support has taken him to greater heights in politics.
He explained that the governor stood solidly behind him before, during and after the rerun election, which gave him victory ahead of his close contender, Adedapo Lam-Adesina in 2023 to secure second term into the House of Representatives.
The statement read, “Today marks a significant milestone in my political journey — which marks two years of my second term in office. I am grateful to God and my Principal, Governor Seyi Makinde.
“His unalloyed support brought me to this point and I am very grateful. I do not take all of the things he has done for me for granted.
“Apart from the fact that I owe my principal a thank you, I owe my political success to Governor Makinde. If not for him, I won’t be where I am today. I cannot thank him enough for many things he has done to my political career.
“He solidly stood by me before, during and after the rerun election in year 2023, which has led to my being here in the National Assembly today as a two term lawmaker. His staunch support provided for me the momentum that led to my gallant triumph over my political opposition.
“Two years on, I am here through the grace of God and his support. It was a tough war he fought together with me. And today, I return an appreciation to him.
“I look up to him in all I do in terms of delivering dividends of democracy to the people of our constituency. That is the more reason why I always try to imitate him by doing the right thing at all time.”
He also thanked the wife of the Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, appreciating her moral support and encouragement, which led to his second term in the House of Representatives, thanking them for the trust reposed in him.
The lawmaker, however, reaffirmed his dedication to championing laws that would bring real progress and ensuring that the voices of his people are heard loud and clear at the national level.
