The Oyo Alaafin Trade and Artisan Association covers the four local government areas of Oyo township under the leadership of Alh. Hon. Nureni Adesola Alade, hosted its annual interfaith prayer session, bringing together members of the association, Iyaloja of Oyo township, Alhaji Khadija Bakare, community leaders, and religious scholars to seek divine guidance and protection for the Alaafin-elect, Governor Seyi Makinde, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and other stakeholders.

It could be recalled that the annual Interfaith Prayer is held every last Thursday of January of the new year. The event, which took place at Hon. Nureni Alade’s House, featured prayers and supplications from Islamic clerics and others.

The prayers focused on God’s protection for the formidable trade organization as well as seeking God’s guidance, protection, and blessings for the newly elected Alaafin, the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu and other leaders in the state.


In his remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo Alaafin Trade and Artisan Association, Hon. Nureni Adesola Alade emphasized the importance of seeking divine intervention in the affairs of the union.

He noted that the association has been organizing the annual prayer session for several years, and it has been instrumental in promoting peace, stability, and progress in the state.
Alade, however, used the medium to pray for the smooth transition of Alaafin-elect Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade in championing the course of progress and inclusive development in Òyó township. He further applauded the sustainable development legacy of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE in transforming the state economy beyond reasonable doubt.

The Alaafin-elect, who was represented at the event by a high-ranking palace official, expressed his gratitude to the association for organizing the prayer session. He assured the gathering that he would work tirelessly to promote the welfare and well-being of the people of Oyo State.

Equally, Iyaloja of Oyo township, Alhaja Khadija Bakare, reiterated the support of the association members in striving for progress and prosperity.

She thanked the association for their support and prayers and promised to continue working closely with them to achieve the state’s development goals. Noting that the annual prayer has continued to promote unity, understanding, and progress among the people of Oyo State.

The gathering also used the medium to pray for the newborn of the son of Sen. Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu in London.

Earlier in his lecture, Sheikh Abdul Kabir Kolade’s opening remarks emphasized the importance of prayer and unity in achieving peace, progress, and prosperity in the state. He noted that the annual interfaith prayer session has become a vital platform to foster understanding and promote harmony.

Several Qur’an verses were read while prayer was offered for Alaafin-elect, Governor Seyi Makinde, and Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu. He, however, applauded the trade and artisan association for their spirits of courage, unity.

The Cleric urged the leaders to rally around other aggrieved people, insinuating wrong assertions about their Leadership.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives and leaders of various trade and artisan associations in the Oyo Federal Constituency
