The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of Mr. Bioku Ismail Abass Adebukola as Auditor-General for Local Governments and Mr. Olatunji Kunle Daramola as Auditor-General for the State.

The confirmation followed a thorough screening by the Committee on Public Accounts, which presented its findings and recommendations to the House during Tuesday’s plenary sitting.

Chairman of the House Committee, Hon. Olushola Owolabi, told the house while presenting the report that the committee was satisfied with the duo’s responses during their screenings which informed their recommendations for their new designations.

Westernmirror.com.ng reports that the screening exercise, held on January 23, 2025, scrutinized the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and plans for their respective offices.

Mr. Bioku, a seasoned auditor with 26 years of experience, is currently the Permanent Secretary at the Oyo State Audit Service Commission.

Similarly, Mr. Daramola, born in 1965 in Ibadan South-West Local Government, is the Coordinating Director in the Office of the Auditor-General for the State.

A graduate of Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University, he has been in the civil service since 1996, rising through the ranks to his current position.

According to the committee, the duo’s recommendations for their new roles were based on their qualifications and satisfactory responses during the screening exercise.

Following the presentation of the committee report which was adopted by the House, the House unanimously adopted the recommendation, citing Section 126(1) of the Nigerian Constitution and Section 22(1) of the Oyo State Audit Law.

In his brief remarks, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, congratulated the new Auditors-General, urging them to uphold integrity and professionalism in their duties.
