In a great display of bravery and expertise, the Oyo State Fire Service Zonal offices have successfully contained and extinguished raging infernos in three separate locations, namely, Ogbomoso, Oyo Township, and Iseyin.
According to the statement released on Monday and made available to our correspondence, the fire service arrived at the PMS tanker accident scene, at Arinkinkin, Ogbomoso, Kanisuru area, Oko-Oba Oyo township, and Sawmill area, Iseyin/Saki road in a record time by each Zonal command respectively, equipped with
State-of-the-art firefighting equipment.

The fire personnel led by ACFS Odewabi swung into action to avert the petrol tanker accident through the application of a chemical compound to neutralize the flammability of the spilled contents from attracting unnecessary naked fire. While the agency’s personnel were still on standby at the scene to curb any arising circumstances.

Furthermore, the Oyo Zonal command of the state fire service received a distress report to a House on fire at lane no 3, Kanisuru area, Oko-Oba, Oyo township to a three-bedroom flat set in inferno.

A team led by ACFS Tijani saved the building from an inferno caused by an upsurge in electricity. No life was lost and properties worth billions of naira were saved by the agency’s personnel.
Also, the Oyo Zonal command averted falling Petrol tanker from catching fire along Oyo-Ibadan Expressway, Tarmac area, Oyo. The incident was a DAF trailer tanker registered (ABUJA); ABC 850 XB of 45,000litrea capacity loaded with PMS lost control whilst on motion.
The said DAF fell by the road side and content gushing out. The fireman swiftly swing into action to blanketing the spillage so as to prevent any unforeseen fire hazard within the jurisdiction.
Equally, Iseyin zonal command averted an incident of a DAF Petrol tanker loaded with 45,000 PMS. The vehicle broke down whilst in motion, and the crew observed that the situation may likely lead to a fire outbreak.

The team was able to avert it being caught fire, and the driver and his motor boy’s emotions were stabilized and put under control.

However, after the operation, it was discovered that the delivery outlet was not properly closed and leaking water. Efforts have been made to contact the maintenance section for a technical solution.
