Ahead of Xmas and New Year festive Season, the leadership of Oyo Southwest Local Council Development Area, ably led by Hon. Nureni Adesola Alade, has embarked on environmental cleanliness for a healthy life and get rid of the humongous heaps of waste that have been indiscriminately littered on the roadsides by the people of the Akeetan community.
Alade, while speaking with Heritage Echo News correspondence shortly after the up of the Akeetan area, disclosed that the exercise is a strategy towards the declaration of zero tolerance to indiscriminate dumping of refuse, open defecation, and other forms of environmental nuisances perpetrated by residents.

“It is also an avenue for us to champion the course of making Oyo Southwest LCDAs clean and devoid of environmental hazards.

He, however, emphasized the need for residents of Akeetan to keep their environment clean by ensuring wastes are properly bagged, drainages de-silted, and maintaining a constant degree of cleanliness around residences and businesses.


He also enjoined residents to adhere strictly to the rules, stressing that the “Operation Clean Oyo Southwest Clean” initiative is a continuous exercise that will leave no stone unturned where environmental sanitation is concerned.

The Operation was led by the acting Head of local government administration, Mr. Adeola Oduola, the acting Director of Environment, Mrs. Dele’ Ojo, and others, saying the initiative is one out of the many unfolding programs the council Mayor has in stock for the residents, to see that unmanaged and undisposed wastes and cesspits are properly evacuated and extricated from the community.

“Our initiative is, therefore, one that aims to complement and support the genuine and ingenuous overall strategy of the government and its agencies like Oyo State Waste Management Agency (OYWMA) and the Ministry of Environment,” they said.

With this proactive step taken, it can be said that the Hon. Nureni Adesola Alade’s administration is put in place to set the pace of developmental strategic governance for other Councils and to generally protect the interest of the good people of Oyo Southwes Local Council Development.
