Executive chairman, Ido local government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo had sent condolence message to parents, and families who lost their kids at the Ibadan children’s carnival.

A stampede occurred at the private children’s funfair, held at Basorun Islamic High School, which claimed lives of several kids while many were at various hospitals within the Ibadan metropolis for medical attention.

In a statement personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, Adeojo described the incident as unfortunate, urged the Oyo state governornment and the security
authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly in order to prevent similar occurrence in near future.

” It indeed a sad day in Ibadan as we lost some of our tomorrow leaders in a stampede while several are presently in hospital with injuries. It is unfortunate that, the tragic incident happened in a day picked for the children to have fun and get refreshed.

” As we mourn the children that lost their lives during the stampede that occured during a children’s carnival today in Ibadan, it is necessary for the state government and security agencies to investigate what could have caused the painful incident to help prevent further occurrences in the future.

” On behalf of people of Ido local government, I sympathise with the parents whose joy has suddenly been turned to mourning due to these deaths.

Myself and people of Ido local government pray for the families of the deceased, asking God Almighty to grant them the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss as well as wish all the injured children a divine healing and a speedy recovery”, Adeojo.
