The executive chairman of Oluyole local government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has announced a major scholarship for 200 secondary school students of Oluyole origin who are preparing to proceed for their tertiary education.

The education advancement initiative according to the council boss, is targeted at supporting the indigent students who have shown brilliance in their academic life but are less privileged financially to access tertiary education.

A statement by Engr. Olatunji on Tuesday, December 10, indicates that plans have been concluded in partnership with Aries Polytechnic, Ibadan, for the commencement of the scholarship program starting from the next academic session.

Olatunji stated that the scholarship was designed primarily to provide financial assistance to academically sound but financially handicapped persons to study at a private polytechnic in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Olatunji emphasized his commitment to empowering young people in his community, particularly those who face financial barriers to higher education, noting that the move was in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde to remove all barriers to quality education at all levels across the state.

“Education is the key to unlocking potential and creating a brighter future for our youths. This scholarship program is my way of opening up access to tertiary for sons and daughters of Oluyole LG origin and ensuring that our young people have access to quality education that will set them on a path to success,” Olatunji said.

Furthermore, Olatunji disclosed that the scholarship program will cover tuition fees and other related expenses for the recipients, who will be enrolled in various Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programs under Sciences, Engineering, and Social Sciences, at the private polytechnic in the state.

He noted that eligible applicants must have completed their secondary school education with a minimum of five credits in their O’level results, including Mathematics and English Language.

He added that interested candidates will be required to submit their applications to the Education Department of Oluyole LG, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, alongside original copies of their credentials and local government certificate of origin for necessary scrutiny.
