The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) on Friday conferred an “award on one of Governor Seyi Makinde’s allies, the Agbaakin of Olorunda-Abaa, Chief Benedict Akika, and nine others.
The event, which is part of activities lined up to mark the 2024 Ibadan Week was held at the Civic Event Centre, Idi Ape , Ibadan, and was graced by hundreds of political associates, family members and friends of the awardees from all walks of life.

Akika ,who is the AgbaAkin of Olorunda in Ibadan was honored with , The Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadan” award by the CCII in recognition of his contributions to the development of Ibadaland.

Other awardees included ; Engr. Major Rasaki Salawu, Professor Isiaka Kolawole, Pharmacist Yekini Lasun Adeniran, Professor Remi Raji Oyelade, Professor Musa Aibinu, Alhaja Kuburat Owoola, Mogaji Isola Olorode, Mogaji Fadeke Idiat Lawal and BCOS Televison.

The President-General of CCII, Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole noted that the award is rarely conferred only to real outstanding personality in Ibadan.

He appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde, all the local government council bosses in Ibadan and other prominent Ibadan indigenes for their financial support for the Ibadan week which began on Monday.
In their remarks, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and the Chairman, House Committee on Local government and Chieftaincy Matters in the Assembly, Hon. Akintunde Olajide (AKT) described the Chief Banedict Akika as a true philanthropist, selfless and a great ambassador of his constituency.
The Onilalupon of Lalupon, Oba Adekunle Arigbabuwo described Hon. Akika as a true friend and reliable personality.
Others including Chief Abass Oloko, Mogaji Oladosu Ademola noted that Chief Benedict Akika’s recognition is a reflection of his good social performance to Ibadan indigenes and entire people of Oyo State.
In his remark, the honouree, Chief Benedict Akika appreciated the leadership of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes,CCII for recognizing his philanthropic performance, even though he did not expect it .
Chief Akika pledged to continue to make positive impact in his constituency to improve the lives of the people saying that his selfless performances remains a divine mandate.
