The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde FNSE has applauded the Shooting Stars Sports Club for brilliant display at the just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League, 2023/2024 Season.
Makinde lauded the team on Sunday as they secured the top four positions, with 62 points, the first of its kind since their return to the top-flight competition in the 2019/2020 season.
The Governor gave the commendations shortly after the Oluyole Warriors beat Sporting Lagos to a 1 – 0 victory at Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.
In a statement released on the official Facebook page of His Excellency, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde, he said;
“This afternoon, we were at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba to cheer our darling Shooting Stars Sports Club to a 1-0 victory against Sporting Lagos in their final match of the season”.
It was a full stadium, thanks to our supporters who continue to encourage our 3SC through thick and thin.
The full attendance at these matches validates our position that we can stimulate our economy through sports development.
The team has made considerable progress in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), finishing in fourth place this season compared to last season.
As it is, there is room for the team to accomplish even more and we will go back to the drawing board to work towards our goal of qualifying for continental championships next season.
