Oyo Premier Club 1960 has joined families, friends, associates, Community leaders, and others in mourning the departure of a distinguished personality, the late Prince Sulaiman Ajibola Afonja.

Recalled that Prince Ajibola Afonja died on Sunday night at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

Oyo Premier Club 1960 further described the death of the late Prince Sulaiman Ajibola Afonja as a touching exit of a Colossus. A distinguished personality whose exit marked the end of an era.

The statement read in parts;

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we write on behalf of Oyo Premier Club (1960) to commiserate with the Afonja Family on the disturbing tragedy of the death of our beloved and strong pillar of support, Prince Sulaiman Ajibola Afonja, a former Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Former Member, Federal University of Technology, Minna Governing Council, Former Chairman, First Bank Plc, Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Dimensional Systems (IDS) who departed this sinful world on Sunday, 19th May 2024 at Eighty-Two (82)”.

We acknowledge the grief of losing such an exemplary Community Leader and industrialist at a time like this. He was a distinguished national personality whose exit marked the end of an era.

His philanthropic gestures from which Oyo Premier Club (1960) also benefitted are too numerous to be listed. His death will surely leave a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. He was undoubtedly a man of the people.

It is worthy of note to mention that his numerous contributions to the development of the Oyo Community and humanity can never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, Oyo Community, and friends. We pray that God gives you the fortitude to bear this great loss.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Patron, Central Executive Committee, and the members of Oyo Premier Club (1960) we sympathize with the immediate family. May God grant him eternal rest.

Kindly accept our condolences.

eclogite:

MA. Ajibowu
General Secretary

Michael Olajide Olanipekun Esq.
