In a significant development, asphalt laying has commenced on the 1.6km Kajola-Irede-Odinjo-Alake-Sodun road construction project facilitated by the House of Representatives member representing the people of Ibadan North East/South East Federal constituency, Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin.

The development, undoubtedly, has attracted the residents to troop out en masse to shower encomiums on the lawmaker with love, praises and prayers.

The N1bn project, which was flagged off March 21, aims at improving connectivity and infrastructure within the adjoining communities including Oba Adebimpe layout, Odinjo junction, Sodun junction, Alake road, Kajola-Irede Academy Street.

The project is in line with Governor Makinde’s infrastructural development agenda, which is aimed at improving the living standards of the people, ensuring that communities are better off than they were before intervention.

When interviewed, the contractor handling the project assured that it would be completed within the stipulated timeframe (in few weeks) and to the highest quality standards.

The residents welcomed the development, expressing their gratitude to the lawmaker for his efforts put into the facilitation of the project for the benefit of the residents.

One of the landlords who spoke on the development, hailed Agboworin, describing him as a Messiah, who has transformed the constituency through his numerous projects, pro-poor empowerment initiatives and skill trainings for constituents.

“There is no doubt that Agboworin has etched his name in gold through this road project, countless skill acquisition training programmes and empowerment programmes.

“We are also aware of some other projects he has done in the past including construction of school blocks, installations of solar street lights, water boreholes and empowerment for petty traders in the constituency,” he stated.

Mrs Oyedele Bimbo, who also spoke, appreciated the lawmaker for having them in mind always, saying they had already lost hope thinking the road would remain in deplorable condition.

In his comment, a middle aged man who also expressed his feelings, explained that “We have been waiting for the construction of this road for years, and we are thrilled to see the work approaching the completion stage. We are very happy for what Hon. Agboworin is doing for us. We have not experienced good things like this in this community since I was born.”

Ms. Ajibike Dada, in his remark, said: “To me, Agboworin remains the best lawmaker from this constituency. This is not the first road project he has embarked upon in this constituency. We can see his works not only here in South East but also North East. If you go to the opposite side of Alake, the road construction project there was facilitated by him and there are many other things he has been able to do.”

“He has been doing well and never failed us. Someone like him is very rare to come by. Since they started working on this road, there has been relief. Very dusty and rough. So, we cannot really thank him enough for the things he is doing,” another resident stated.

Agboworin had assured the people that as long as his tenure lasted, he would continue to facilitate infrastructure project and provide quality representation.
