The campaign train of the Wabkem/Olaide restoration agenda in Atiba local government, under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), berthed at Oke-Aafin Zone today, covering Ward 01, 02, and 03 respectively in a colorful gathering with the official presentation of the party’s flag to the Councilorship candidate.
The event, which took place at Temileke junction, serves a dual purpose, marking the commencement of the party’s campaign across the Ward and soliciting bloc votes for the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates in the Royal Council.
In his welcome address, leader Goke Azeez commended the members, leaders, and faithful party loyalists for giving Oke-Aafin Zone a rare opportunity to return as the party’s flag bearer for PDP, although the incumbent was from the zone.
He emphasized the party’s dedication to engaging in transparent campaigns that portray the party’s readiness for a democratic contest. He underscored the importance of active participation and unity within the party as key elements for success in the electoral arena.
Leader Goke Azeez assured the electorate of the dividends of democracy at the grassroots, saying the chairmanship candidate is a renowned philanthropist of note, pure democrat, people’s choice, and ready to deliver across the Royal council while urging them to vote PDP massively to ensure total victory at the poll.
Elder Opeyemi, Hon. Salam Wasiu (Education Secretary), emphasized the significance of grassroots engagement in achieving electoral triumph, saying APC is full of deceit, and no well-meaning person would want to be associated with such a party. While lauding the democratic nature of the Chairmanship candidate and his vice, together with all the Councilorship candidates, for their productive ideology to transform the Royal Council, restore its lost glory, and make Atiba a watchdog for its peers in terms of good governance.
They further urged party members and electorates not to relent in their efforts to canvass across units, wards, and the council area to ensure victory for Wabkem/Olajide.
In his word, Leader Alhaji Quadri Olatunji, appreciated the support of other zones towards promoting the Oke-Aafin zonal candidate, saying the incumbent was from Ward 03, now it’s the turn of Ward 01, being the ward of the Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem.
“2007/2010 Wabkem was Councilor representing Ward 01, his regime witnessed wonderful development, a true reflection of a local breed politician who understands the needs of the grassroots people. I’ll urge you all to vote for him and his vice and all 10 Councilorship candidates massively to further implement the sustainable development agenda legacy of His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde,” Olatunji urged.
Representing the state party, Barrister Waheed Gbadegesin and Hon. Alhaji Olanrewaju Muhammed addressing the crowd, commended the good governance of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde for promoting the good governance mantra in Pacesetter State. Assuring the electorate that the candidate will run an all-inclusive government at the grassroots to ensure people get dividends of democracy.
They further assured the electorate and party Members that all candidates of the party in Atiba would be delivered and returned to Offa-meta.
In his goodwill message, the leader of the House Atiba local government, Hon. Sunday Fadiran, acknowledged the party members, leaders, and stakeholders for ensuring unity in the Royal Council.
He said the party that is campaigning, expending so much human and financial resources this much could not be compared to the opposition which has not been seen campaigning.
Earlier in his speech, the Director-general of Wabkem/Olaide Campaign Organisation, Hon. Gabriel Olusegun, gave kudos to the party executives and leader for all-round support for the party’s candidate, urging the faithful members, and residents to vote across units, wards in Atiba council area.
In his remarks, the Atiba Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, acknowledged the leader of the party, Engr Seyi Makinde, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the local stakeholders, and leader for the support towards the realization of his ambition. He lauded the overwhelming support and vowed to uphold the legacy of productive representation. He assured the Royal council of his commitment to good governance, highlighting his dedication to serve.
The rally featured a presentation of the party’s flag to the Councilorship candidate and had a stopover at Ward Three leader and former commissioner for youth and sports residents, Hon. Dr. Tola Adejumo.
In attendance are the party Chairman, Hon. Kabiru Ashamu, Hon Kehinde Aleem, Chief Opayakata, Baba Iludero, Former party chairman, Hon. Tijani Muideen Oyedele, Alhaji Mumini Omo Alhaja, Alhaji Olanrewaju Muhammed, Barrister Waheed Gbadegesin, Mrs. Akinpelu, Alhaji Quadri Olatunji, Mama Akinpelu.
Others include the Wabkem/Olaide Campaign Committee, Baale in Oke-Aafin Zone, Ward and local women leaders, youth leaders, and several others.
