As preparation ahead of the 2024 April Council polls in Oyo State heightens up, the good People of Oyo West local government, Ojongbodu, Oyo on Saturday turned out en-mass to show sincere solidarity and support for the Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Prince Salam Akeem Babatunde Olukitibi and his running mate, Alhaji Nureni Alade Adesola, as well as all the Councilorship candidate.
Its official campaign flag-off held at Fashola-Soku Garage, Opposite Mogba, Oyo, shows a carnival-like atmosphere, supporters of the party across units and 10 wards in the model Council.
In his speech at the events, the PDP Party Chairman in Oyo West local government areas, Alhaji Sarafadeen Oyedele Oloyo lauded the people for coming out in huge numbers to identify with the party, noting that the presence of the mammoth Crowd showed that the PDP was on the ground, alive and safe across the ten (10) wards in Oyo West Council area.
Oloyo attributed the massive support to the People’s Governor, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE, sustainable development agenda across the 351 wards, 33 local government as well as 35 local council development areas (LCDAs). His landmark achievement in rural development is the quality of the candidate the party is parading for the forthcoming grassroots elections.
He further commended the first tenure of Prince Salam Akeem Babatunde Olukitibi and his vice Nureni Alade for putting the residents of the council first in their developmental initiative with a productive Selflessness record of achievement.
He urged the party agents, canvassers, and mobilizers to be vigilant and secure the electorate’s votes for PDP on the 27th of April, saying PDP victory is paramount.
The Director-General of Campaign, Hon. Wale Ogunsola described the candidate joint ticket and all the Councilorship candidates as the People’s Choice based on the track record of performance of the council Chairman. Boasting that the large crowd that came out to have a glance through the re-election bid flag-off shows the grassroots people were comfortable with the PDP administration as the closest governance to the people, saying the democratic dividends of the candidate have made it possible for them to embrace PDP as the only alternative to infrastructural development.
On his part, the Oyo State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke stressed that Oyo State has been the most peaceful and investor-friendly environment based on His Excellency Engr Seyi’s economic reforms, tourism development, Energy and Mineral Resources, increase in IGR and another sector of adequate welfare to the residents.
He thereafter charged the opposition party to organize a campaign in line with the structure of the PDP Ward-to-Ward, units-to-units noting that the PDP was winning massively across the 33 local government areas.
“We’re winning across the 351 wards for Councilorship and 33 LG for Chairmanship candidate in Oyo State, PDP has been the only party that looks inward towards improving the welfare and standard of living of the masses. Come April 27, 2024, the council elections remain a win-win for the party”.
“This is a true reflection of people’s oriented governance, grow the economy, employ the teeming youths as well as laying a legacy of a true statesman”.
He now urged residents of Oyo West to vote for PDP across the board, urging the candidates to work in line with their blueprints when fortune smiles on them at the poll.
In her speech at the event, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu praised God almighty for the productive flag-off Campaign
She assured the electorates that the re-election bid of Hon Prince Salam Akeem Babatunde and Alhaji Nureni Alade would continue to build on Governor Seyi Makinde’s achievement.
Sunmonu expressed confidence in the victory of Olukitibi/Alade Liberation Continues in the upcoming elections.
In his words, Rt. Hon Olawale Atilola commended the people for their impressive turnout and overwhelming support for all the PDP candidates at the Model Council.
“It’s obvious that PDP is going to win and we’re happy with that” Rt Hon Atilola assured.
Also in their separate remarks, Oyo Lawmaker representing Oyo East/West State constituency, Hon Olorunpoto Cephas Rahaman, and Atiba State Constituency, Hon Gbenga Joseph Oyekola urged the party leaders, stakeholders, and faithful Memeber to go back to the units, wards and work extensively for the party to record landslide victory.
Prince Salam Akeem Babatunde Olukitibi, the Chairmanship candidate commended the people for the overwhelming support with the large turnout for the Ward-to-Ward campaign flag-off of his re-election bid while expressing delight in the reaffirmation of the electorates on voting PDP based on his first tenure Performances.
He promised that together with his running mate, they’ll not fail in delivering good governance to the people at the grassroots level.
