The Member representing the Ibadan North East/South East in the House of Representatives, Rep Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, has rejoiced with Christians in the country over the Easter celebration.Â

The federal government had declared today, March 29, and Monday, April 1, 2024, as public holidays for the celebration of Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

Agboworin, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, in a statement by his Media Group, congratulated Christians for the successful completion of the Lenten season, a period of 40 days of fasting and prayer that culminated in the Easter celebration.

He urged the Christians to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ and the lessons of Easter, which emphasises unity, tolerance perseverance and forgiveness.

The lawmaker, however, called on all Nigerians to rededicate themselves in prayers and tolerate one another as the economic crisis the nation is faced with persists, adding that with prayers, the nation will overcome its challenges.

The statement read, “Today, I want to congratulate my Christian fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters for the successful completion of the Lenten season and prayer that culminated in the Easter celebration.

“In the spirit of the season, I want to urge them to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ and practically reflect the lessons of Easter, which emphasises unity, tolerance perseverance and forgiveness.

“It is most important that we rededicate ourselves in prayers so that the seemingly unsurmountable challenges will be overcome through prayers in no time. Congratulations.”
