As part of his continued efforts aimed at giving medical attention and assistance to the underprivileged, the Lawmaker representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo is partnering with the Association of Rural Surgical Practitioners of Nigeria (ARSPON) to carry out a 2-day free surgical outreach for residents of Oyo State.

During the outreach, the team of surgeons will perform surgery on no fewer than 60 individuals who are residents of Oluyole State Constituency suffering from various ailments courtesy of Hon. Waheed Akintayo popularly known as ‘Ilumoka Presenter’.

The Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the outreach in Oyo State, Dr. Oladipupo Olayide disclosed this during his visit to Hon. Waheed Akintayo’s office at the House of Assembly complex, Secretariat, Ibadan yesterday, noting that the free surgery which will take place at Lad Medical Centre, Orita Challenge, Ibadan between Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th February, 2024 will feature free Hernia screening, Lipoma (lump) surgery, Hydrocele, Undescended Testis, Ganglion and Swelling surgery respectively.

In his remarks, Hon. Waheed Akintayo who is the Chairman House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT stressed that he was happy to collaborate with the outreach to further proof his commitments to improve the well-being of the vulnerables in his constituents.

According to him, “I am very much happy that the Association of Rural Surgical Practitioners of Nigeria (ARSPON) which will be hosted by its Oyo State chapter gives me the privilege to partner with them to carry out free surgery for residents of my constituency who are battling with underlying ailment and are dying in silence for lack of access to healthcare services as a result of lack of funds to pay medical bills.

The motive behind this is that once people are healthy they will be able to work and fend for themselves and their loved ones. This is what I have made as my priority and I will continue to do to alleviate the sufferings of my people in my constituency.” Hon. Akintayo added.

Meanwhile, any individuals from Oluyole State Constituency who are battling with any of the aforementioned ailments have been advised to signify their interest by sending text message to Hon. Sunday Osunlana on 08141596218 on or before Monday 12th February, 2024 to register for free with full explanation on the nature of their ailment.
