Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, returned to winning ways on Sunday, with a hard won 1-0 victory over hard fighting Bayelsa United of Yenagoa.
Kareem Ademola’s 11th minute superb goal, was all the Oluyole Warriors needed to secure the much needed win, which brought to an end, the team’s winless streak.
The victory did not come easy as the bottom placed Bayelsa United gave the Ibadan soccer lords a difficult time.
A long thrust into the visitors’ area, was deflected into the legs of Kareem, who stylishly puts the ball over the opponent’s goalkeeper for what would turn out to be the only goal of the encounter.
After the goal, Bayelsa United made several attempts to level up but the sharp reflexes of goalkeeper Anozie Chinedu and solid defending by the 3SC defenders, denied them the equaliser.
With the first half ending 1-0 in favour of the Oluyole Warriors, the visitors continued the search for the leveller but could not get the leeway.
The homers had some decent chances in the closing stages of the encounter to add to their tally but were unable to take their chances, thus ending the energy sapping match 1-0.
The win takes the Oluyole Warriors to the 10th position on the log with 22 points from 16 matches.
Up next for the Ibadan soccer lords, is a trip to Lagos for a South West derby against Sporting Lagos, next Sunday.
