A renowned grassroots organization championing the cause of Oyo Empire development, the Oyo Development Council (ODC) has mourned the demise of the former ambassador of Nigeria to Zambia and Malawi, late Otun of Oyo land, High Chief M.O Ogunmola.
The deceased who is 96 years old died yesterday Sunday, 26th November 2023.
In a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News by the Oyo Development Council (ODC) public relations office A.A Awotona described the deceased as a colossal loss to the Oyo empire and Nigeria at large.
The forum in a statement maintained that the erudite scholar passed on at a period when Nigeria needed his experience most as a technocrat of note.
“We’ve Lost a rare gem, chiefs in the cabinet of the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, a great catalyst who facilitated and built the famous Ladigbolu Grammar School, Oyo. Baba remains a prolific writer and reputable advocate of good governance till his death
The statement read in parts;
“With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a remarkable individual, Chief M.O. Ogunmola, the Otun of Oyo. In his lifetime, Chief Ogunmola was a stalwart contributor to the development of Oyo.
His indomitable spirit and dedication led to the singular achievement of building Ladigbolu Grammar School. Many of his legacies, profound and impactful, are visible to all”.
Chief M.O. Ogunmola’s unwavering commitment to the growth and prosperity of Oyo will forever be etched in our collective memory.
As we bid farewell to a true visionary, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire community.
May his soul rest in peace.
