The Elero of Ilero in Kajola local government of Oyo State, Oba Wasiu Oyedele Ska has expressed shock at the behavior of former President Olusegun Obasanjo when the Iseyin Campus of LAUTECH was being commissioned.
Oba Saka stated that the traditional rulers never intended to disrespect the former President or the Governor by sitting down but rather, they were ready to listen attentively to Obasanjo’s speech when he jumped on them furiously and spoke to them like a pupil or like a garrison commander addressing his troops in the barracks.
“We knew we could have disobeyed Obasanjo’s instruction and there was nothing he could do to us but we never wanted to disrespect our well-meaning Governor who did well by the establishment of the campus.
“Two wrongs do not make a right, we thank all Yoruba people throughout the world who stood up to defend their customs and traditions. It was obvious that the Former President didn’t ridicule our person but the Yoruba people that he ridiculed have responded appropriately to his action”.
“One thing was sure, if late Alaafin were to be alive, Obasanjo would never have dared the traditional rulers in the way he did. And even in his native Ogun State, he could not have done what he did to local Obas there.
Till eternity, the entire people of Oyo State will always disrespect Obasanjo as a result of his irrational behavior toward Yoruba royal fathers”.
