Governor Seyi Makinde has once again displayed his commitment to the welfare of the State workforce when he met with the workers today to approve a generous wage award of 25,000 naira per worker and 15,000 naira per pensioner.
It is on record that the amiable Governor has consistently paid workers salaries on or before the 25th of each month for 53 uninterrupted months. He had also paid 13th month salaries for workers for the past four years. This is unprecedented in the history of Oyo State since the beginning of the current democratic dispensation in 1999. No other administration has matched this enviable feat.
It is also on record that the Makinde administration has consistently released promotion of workers with matching financial benefits in the past four years. In addition to this, Governor Seyi Makinde re-absorbed into the service those that were unjustly laid off in the past.

The Governor’s love for his people is not restricted to only workers as evidenced by the SAfER program which he’s implementing to ameliorate the socioeconomic problems associated with the withdrawal of subsidy on petroleum products by the Federal Government. The heavily subsidised and highly efficient public transport system through the Omituntun buses is going a long way to assist the poor commuters. The distribution of agricultural inputs to help our farmers and the availability of 1 billion naira as credits for small scale farmers among others is highly commendable.

Today’s wage award is historic because no other state has done something at this level. I therefore join Oyo State people to thank a Governor who appreciates the socioeconomic conditions of his people and who is always willing and ready to ameliorate the challenges they are facing.
History will remember Governor Seyi Makinde for always being on the same page with the workers and the downtrodden.
